Come and immerse yourself in a throwing and handbuilding taster session. This is a great option if you fancy having a go on the wheel either as a complete beginner or someone who’s wanting to brush up their skills. You will have complete free reign to try and make one item which if successful can be fired and glazed for you. Or perhaps your just wanting to have a bit of fun with your partner or best friend. These make a great gift. Structure of experience - Your potter instructor Hannah will give you a brief introduction into the world of pottery and then spend a little time demonstrating throwing a pot. Each person will then get to take to the wheel, learning how to centre the clay, or have a go at handbuilding a pot. You will then have a hot drink and cake break, in which you can discuss what you’d like to concentrate on making so Hannah can try and help you make the piece you want to take home! You will work with stoneware clay and if your successful in making a piece can choose from one of Hannahs glazes to have applied once your pot has fully dried and been through the firing process. Hannahs aim is for you to leave with a cup or bowl that you have made. You will have unlimited amounts of clay to make with, but at the end will pick 1 from your best 3 pieces to be fired and glazed. Remember whilst its lovely to come away with a piece and we will do our best to make this happen, pottery takes time to learn and this experience is more about having fun! For those who want more, we offer a 3 week course. Your pottery will take 2 weeks to be ready in which you can then arrange collection, local delivery or postage at a small cost (£5) Hot drinks and bakes are included in the price.
